We dropped this game in Velva by a score of 46-35.  We talked about going into the game how we HAD to win our last 2 district games to possibly avoid being the #8 seed in the district tourney.  I wanted the kids to come out intense, focused and ready to jump to a lead and play from there, just like any other game.  Well, we found ourselves down 19-3 after 1 quarter…10 turnovers and missed layups haunted us. That quarter is the difference in the game.  I need to find a better way to get us ready to go from the start.

We know we are going to be playing Rugby now in the first round of the district tournament.  Its a challenge to say the least.  We also know we will have our chance to prove ourselves in the district tournament, just like every other team.  We accept the challenge and will prepare our best to be the most focused, most disciplined, most ready to execute we have been all season…we have to be.

We have 2 more games to get ready for “do or die” time.  I believe we will be ready.   We feel we can compete with anybody in our district.  I KNOW we can compete with anybody in our district.  Two games to get mentally focused for a district tournament where anything can happen.  We are going to make something happen.

Finishing up, the kids have home games next week on Monday and next Saturday.  Next Saturday is senior night at 5:00 pm against St. John.  Come out and support the seniors as they finish up their careers at Bottineau High School.  These kids have done everything I’ve asked of them for 4 years.  There’s no doubt they’ve had a tough senior season, but they’ve had extraordinary attitudes and have truly been a pleasure to coach.  Thank you Trevor, Logan, Taylor, Joey, Ian, Scott, Ty and Jesse for everything.
