Notes from the Superintendent

Dear Patrons,

Where does the time go? It seems like the school year just started and now November is here. Other than the wind, it has been a pretty nice fall. Hopefully, we experience a nice mild winter.

Our fall testing will soon be coming to an end. Grades 3-8 and 11 are currently taking the CTB test. The CTB test is the state assessment used in determining a school’s and district’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Last year the Elementary, High School, and District did not make AYP in Reading. The Elementary and District did not make AYP in Math. We will be working very hard to make AYP in all three entities on both reading and math. The school will receive these results in the spring. I would like to thank you as parents for encouraging your children to do their best on the CTB test.

The first nine weeks ended on Friday, October 25th. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Tuesday, October 29th and Tuesday, November 5th, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The K-6 conferences will be conducted the same as past years. Parents will have scheduled conferences with K-6 teachers. The 7-12 conferences will be done a little differently on Tuesday, October 29th. It will be treated as an open house for the parents. Food will be served as well as entertainment. All are invited to attend. The 7-12 conferences on November 5th will be traditional. Teachers will be available for conferences on October 29th. Students and staff will also be providing day care on October 29th.

On November 5th a special election will be held. The residents of the Bottineau Public School District will be voting on a $18.9 million bond for the construction of a new school building. Residents of the district can vote from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in front of the James Holwell Auditorium. Please enter through door #2. I encourage all residents to exercise your right to vote on November 5th. Information regarding this project can be found on our school website.

The month of November brings days in which we have no school and an early out. There will be an early out on Thursday, November 7th. Buses will leave Central School at 12:30 p.m. with the buses leaving the Middle School at 12:45 p.m. to take the students home. Our staff will be participating in a Professional Development activity. There will also be no school on Friday, November 8 (Parent/Teacher Comp. Day) and Monday, November 11 to observe Veteran’s Day. There will be no school on November 28th and 29th to observe Thanksgiving.

From our family to yours, have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend!! Also, remember to vote on Tuesday, November 5th.
