Notes from the Superintendent

Dear Patrons,

What happened to the fall? Months of school have come and gone. It has been a very nice fall and hopefully this will continue into the winter months. As we move closer to colder weather and the possibility of snow, please remind your children to dress appropriately. Thank you in advance for your support and help in this matter.

The state testing used in determining Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) will be held in the spring of the 2015-2016 school year. This test is for grades 3-8 and 11. This fall, grades 4,8,and 11 will take the science portion. This portion is not used to determine AYP. The district is currently on Program Improvement. The district must provide our lowest achieving students the opportunity to receive additional instruction in reading and math beyond the regular school day. These instructional services are called Supplemental Services. Additional information can be obtained on our website. You will also receive a letter regarding what AYP represents.

The first nine weeks, came to an end on Friday, October 23rd. Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 and Tuesday, November 3rd from 5:00-8:00 PM. All parents are invited to attend.

The month of November brings days in which we have no school and an early out. There will be an early out on Thursday, November 5th. Buses will leave Central School at 12:30 pm and the Middle School at 12:45 PM to take students home. Our staff will be participating in a Professional Development Activity. There will be no school on Friday, November 6th (Parent/Teacher Compensation Day) and Wednesday, November 11th, to observe Veteran’s Day. There will be no school on November 26th and 27th to observe Thanksgiving.

From our family to yours, have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.
