Bus Letter to Patrons

Regarding School Transportation and Bus Requirements

Due to the current situation that all schools are dealing with, I want to relay information on how our buses will run this year as well as some changes that will be taking place regarding bus routes.

With COVID requirements the District does not feel that reasonable social distancing can be achieved on our buses.  With this determination comes the mandate that all students riding the buses will be required to wear masks while on the bus.

Temp checking of all students will be occurring this year, this will also pertain to the bus routes.  Any student who has a temperature of 100.4 or greater will not be allowed on the bus, they will be sent back to the house.  For this reason, we ask to make sure that someone is home when the bus picks up your child(ren).  If your child is not allowed on the bus due to a fever, a person from the school will be calling after the buses arrive to inform you what the next steps will be.

To assist our COVID Coordinator in the event of a case occurring in school we need to be able to provide close contact information to the NDDoH.  To aide in this task, we will be assigning seats to students.  All students must remain in that seat for the entire bus route during the 2020-2021 school year.  Because of this we will not be able to accommodate students riding different buses to go to various locations after school as done in the past.

These changes may be inconvenient, but we need to follow guidance that we currently have, and we must do what we can for the safety of all our students.

The District has also redone our In-Town routes and have developed In-Town bus zones.  Each zone has designated pick-up locations where the buses will be stopping to pick up students.  When developing these areas/locations the District looked at where the students who rode the bus last year lived.  The pick-up locations are placed throughout the zones so that no students must go more than a block to get to the bus.  Please reference the attached map for these locations.  Also, be aware that this is not a perfect system and we will do our best to make accommodations where need be.  If your child(ren) did not ride the bus last year, reach out to either Mary Jo at the Elementary (228-3718) or Kerry at the High School (228-2266) to get your child added to a route.
